Research at Heriot-Watt University
Heriot-Watt University is a research-led university specialising in science and engineering, business and management, languages and design. Our research covers the full spectrum from fundamental and theoretical studies, through research of immediate relevance to industry and commerce, to practice-based studies. High quality research can be found in each of our seven main Schools, which are configured to provide the maximum of opportunities for multi- and inter-disciplinary programmes.
Heriot-Watt University is one of the UK's leading research institutions having been rated at the highest level by our national review body, the RAE. The University aims to deliver research of international standing, providing innovative and problem-solving capacity for business, industry and society, and exploiting novel multi-disciplinary approaches. Partnership and pooling are key to development in research at Heriot-Watt and the University is constantly working to build new multi-university partnerships.
In November 2007 Heriot-Watt University submitted to the following Units of Assessments within the UK-wide Research Assessment Exercise. The results of this assessment are due to be published in December 2008.
