University Information & Computing Services (UICS) provide, maintain and support the corporate IT systems available to staff and students. The procedure and forms required to register for access to computing systems are available here. The UICS Training Programme supports all University staff and students who use the computing systems. Workshops and tutorials are provided for staff, helping you appreciate the potential of your software or focus on a specific feature of your software that interests you. Induction sessions and a program of IT Skills Workshops are available for students. Training can be tailored to meet your specific needs and objectives.
All staff must register for the use of Heriot-Watt's computing facilities, including email. This form must be completed by all new staff indicating all the services you need access to. External applicants should complete an External User Registration Form, available from the Help Desk. Student applicants should normally use the self-registration service.
Registration form for Publications Intranet. The Heriot-Watt Publications Database holds in excess of 8,000 publications authored by Heriot-Watt University staff. These are held on a central database and are input by departmental staff using an updateable Desktop Publications Database system. Most can be viewed using the intranet based Publications Search facility.
Use this form to request the setting up of an email mailing list. Please note that requests will only be accepted from members of staff. The applicant must be prepared to take responsibility for the administration and configuration of the list and tools are provided for this purpose. Please note that mailing lists should be used with care and consideration, to avoid inconvenience to staff or transgression of data protection laws.
Heriot-Watt Academic Staff Time (HAST). The UK Funding Councils require all universities to allocate annual costs across the range of activities that they undertake. With payroll forming the single largest cost, we are required to report, in overall terms, the split of staff time across a specific set of topics. In order to create such a report we are required to carry out a staff time survey on no longer than a three year cycle.
The Integrated Student Records System (ISS) is Heriot-Watt university's central student and admissions system. ISSi is the web interface to ISS. It allows queries on current students and undergraduate applicants to the university. The queries are performed on the live database.

Some changes can be made in response to request made by telephone or in person. Changes which require authorisation must be made on this form.

If you wish to remove your access to some or all University computing services please submit your request on this form indicating the services you no longer require or requesting deletion of your username for all services. You can also use this form to request access to the files of a username belonging to some-one who has left the University.
