Services & Facilities

Our Student Services are on hand to support your learning through a wide range of provision including accommodation, computing, healthcare, sport, welfare and careers. University support complements the services and facilities offered through the Students Association. The separate offices of Academic Registry, Student Welfare Services and Careers Advisory Service have been brought together to provide a seamless service to students from the point of registration through to graduation and employment.

Our Staff Administration and Support Services are listed here. The services available include Human Resources, library, records, information and computing services. There are also services for staff welfare, sport and exercise, catering and residences as well as pastoral services and career development. In addition a number of external organisations provide services for staff members covering areas such as banking, insurance, nursery care a bookshop and more.

A number of University and privately owned businesses and commercial services operate on the Edinburgh Campus including the Edinburgh Conference Centre, Heriot-Watt Research Park, the University Health Centre and the Centre for Sport and Exercise. The services on offer include research, consultancy, translation, training, catering, accommodation, sports medicine and more. A number of privately owned businesses and services operate on the Campus for the benefit of University staff, students and the general public. Their services include banking, insurance, childcare and a bookshop.

University Information & Computing Services (UICS) provide, maintain and support the corporate IT systems, which are available to all staff and students of the University. All staff and students must be registered with UICS in order to use the corporate IT facilities. News and events for staff and students, and details of IT courses can be accessed here.
