The Heriot-Watt Oil and Gas Alumni Association (HWOGAA) was established for graduates of Heriot-Watt University's Institute of Petroleum Engineering (PET). Oil and Gas alumni are encouraged to register with the HWOGAA and help to make a world-class institute into an ever more global one. We host regular events and reunions and a biannual newsletter is available for registered graduates.
The Edinburgh Business School (EBS) has over 10,000 graduates in 150 countries, so the EBS Alumni Club is the perfect gateway to like-minded individuals around the globe. We actively look for graduates to act as Local Organisers in their part of the world: with your assistance, we can help organise and support social gatherings, seminars, reunions and professional networking opportunities where you are.
News items of interest to Heriot-Watt alumni are regularly added and updated so monitor this section regularly. If you have news of interest to your fellow alumni, please keep us posted.
If you would like to give to the Alumni Fund, your support will be most welcome and will benefit today's students at Heriot-Watt. Regular donations are invaluable to us as they allow long-term planning of funding (especially necessary in the case of scholarships, for instance) and flexibility to respond to need as it arises. Depending on your own circumstances however, you can make your donation by credit card, cheque, and a number of other payment options.
At Heriot-Watt University we recognise that teaching and research are synergistic and that high quality postgraduate teaching must always be informed by professional experience and research activity. The Engineering and Physical Sciences Graduate School unites the activities of advanced research training, postgraduate teaching and continuing professional development. The Graduate School actively supports students, operating an open door policy at the School Office, and providing an extensive virtual learning environment.
The Alumni Directory gives members online access to the Watt Club network: a searchable live database of graduates and friends of Heriot-Watt University. The Alumni Directory is reserved for Heriot-Watt alumni who have activated a free user account.
With the generous help of many alumni and friends of Heriot-Watt University, the Alumni Fund has created life-changing opportunities for individual students. Every year, 40 talented students with challenging or difficult circumstances are supported by an Alumni Fund scholarship. The Welfare Office has been able to extend its provision for student hardship and so has helped many students stay on course for their degrees. In addition, many recent graduates are reconnecting with the University to take part in career planning workshops, act as role models and a source of inspiration to their successors.
Founded in 1854, the Watt Club is the oldest alumni association in the UK. The Watt Club now incorporates Heriot-Watt University's Alumni Association and has branches as far afield as Australia, Norway and the USA. The Watt Club historical records are available for consultation in Heriot-Watt University Archive, and include the very first minute book of 1854. Membership of the Watt Club is automatic on graduation and free to all graduates of Heriot-Watt.
