Heriot-Watt's Group Risk Office aim to provide automatic insurance cover for clinical trials work sponsored by the University or in which the University is a participating centre. A clinical trial is an investigation or series of investigations conducted on any person for a medicinal purpose. However, certain trials which require special consideration are excluded from this cover. Details of these as well as a checklist and commencement form are provided.
Core personal possessions insurance cover for students staying in Halls and some leased flats is arranged by the University with Endsleigh Insurance. Students may need extended cover for some items, however. To confirm your address and review your cover, visit the Endsleigh site. Contents insurance policies from Endsleigh are specifically designed to cover students personal possessions whether they are living in halls of residences, shared houses or student flats.

Heriot-Watt University's Travel Policy provides insurance cover for all employees contracted to the University, students participating in overseas research projects, exchange students at Universities abroad not exceeding 12 months and students participating in short periods outside the United Kingdom for language experience. The policy outlines the cover for personal accidents, medical costs, cancellation, curtailment or change of itinerary, loss or damage to personal baggage, money, credit cards and personal effects.
