The School of Management and Languages (SML) at the Scottish Borders Campus is a division of the main SML based on the Edinburgh Campus. SML classes at the Scottish Borders Campus tend to be smaller than at the Edinburgh Campus and have a higher staff to student ratio resulting in a relaxed and friendly teaching environment. The Scottish Borders Campus is the University's only provider of the Bachelor of Arts with Industrial Experience which includes a work placement in the third year allowing students to experience the working environment and so enhance their future career prospects.
The School has four programme areas: Accountancy and Finance; Economics; Languages and Intercultural Studies; and Management. The School is one of the largest in the University and is based at the Edinburgh, Scottish Borders (Galashiels) and Dubai campuses. The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS), provides advanced learning in the core skills required for science, technology and commerce. Students can study specialist modules that prepare them for careers in finance and the actuarial profession, artificial intelligence, and multimedia systems. Research has been independently assessed as being of international or national excellence whilst the School's master's courses attract students from across the globe.
