Life sciences
The School of Life Sciences is unique in providing research across disciplines including brewing and distilling, biotechnology, food science, climate change, marine science, psychology and sport science. Key areas of research include environmental biology, largely marine-based and biotechnology, centred on micro-organisms and cereal plants. The research portfolio has recently expanded into human and exercise physiology and psychology.
Interdisciplinary approach
Interdisciplinary research in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences is underpinned by mathematical modelling in biological systems, epidemics and genetics.
At the interface between life sciences and physical sciences, multidisciplinary teams work on our world-class bio-imaging and bio-processing research.
Marine Alliance for Science & Technology for Scotland (MASTS) promotes collaboration across 11 universities and other research institutes throughout Scotland.
